My ex and I divorced three years ago. I just started dating again and met a woman who I really care about and would like to introduce to my daughter. My daughter is 7. I’m nervous to introduce them, because I don’t know how my daughter will react (she’s never seen me with anyone except her mom). Does anyone have tips on how I can help the introduction go smoothly?

Try to make the transition as slow as possible. Tell your daughter about your girlfriend. Maybe first introduce her as a ‘friend’? Go on a active day out where you’re daughter can have fun with your girlfriend. Make it an exciting low-pressure experience. Avoid places where they will be forced to awkwardly interact and instead rhymes visit a place like a museum or amusement park where there will be a lot of ways for them to be involved in conversation and activities together.
